Looking to give back to the community? Crayons to Computers offers a variety of individual-volunteer opportunities.
Individual volunteering is perfect for those looking to give back to our greater community.
Students may volunteer in exchange for community-service hours.
Children 12-15 years may volunteer with an accompanying adult.
Individual volunteer opportunities include (but are not limited to):
Earn your community-service hours by helping teachers box items, load cars, and retrieve shopping carts from the parking lot! Your help is much appreciated and is an integral component to Crayons to Computers’ success!
Keep Our Kids Warm
An annual program in which we encourage participants to knit, crochet, or collect yarn in an effort to provide hats, gloves, and scarves to students in need! The hours and location are flexible for this event - most often the knitting happens in the comfort of your own home.
Help us with the behind-the-scenes work! We are eager to find volunteers to assist with basic data entry, greeting visitors, and answering phones! Hours are flexible.
BACK TO SCHOOL
An annual, community-wide back-to-school supply drive and fundraiser in which Crayons to Computers focuses on engaging local companies and organizations to donate new school supplies and contribute funds to our organization!
Help while teachers shop in the free store, assist with the check in and check out processes, and stock/organize shelves.
Available Monday–Thursday with flexible times between 3:00PM–7:00PM.
Host a supply drive at your school, business, or place of worship. Items we need the most include: mittens, gloves, yarn, books, and any basic school supplies such as writing utensils, notebooks, and paper.
If you have further questions, or to register your group for a volunteer session at Crayons to Computers, please contact Dave Hicks, our Volunteer Coordinator.
VOLUNTEER FOR A TEACHER (VFAT)
At Crayons to Computers, we understand you can’t be in two places at once! That’s why we created our Volunteer for a Teacher (VFAT) program. The VFAT program allows an individual to donate some of their time as a volunteer in order to earn a shopping trip on a teacher’s behalf!
PLEASE NOTE! An individual volunteering for a teacher may only volunteer one time per academic year for their designated teacher.
You can, however, volunteer for multiple different teachers within the same academic year. Each teacher can only receive one shopping certificate from the VFAT program per academic year.
After you register, you will have access to our calendar and volunteer schedule.
You should receive an email confirmation of the date and time you are scheduled to volunteer.
Call Dave Hicks, Volunteer Coordinator, at 513.482.3290 with questions regarding eligibility or any registration issues.
